The Navy League of Hampton Roads committed to lead a drive to help enhance amenities aboard CVN 78. The drive will be the 25th such drive the Norfolk, VA based organization leads as part of the commissioning for the various ships. The Navy League’s drive is dedicated to helping crew members with an expanded learning resource center, chapel and other additions to help with daily life aboard the ship.
Ship Sponsor Susan Ford Bales has previously gifted Captain John Meier, Commanding Officer of the USS Gerald R. Ford, with a complete set of the Gerald R. Ford Oral History Project. The project includes over 150 oral histories reflecting on the life and legacy of our nation’s 38th President from family, Capitol Hill colleagues, White House staff, friends from Grand Rapids and throughout the country.
