U.S. Senator Gary Peters presented Vietnam veterans from West Michigan with commemorative lapel pins to honor their service in the Vietnam War, March 17, 2017 at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The ceremony was part of a national effort to honor the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Senator Peters, a member of the Senate Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees, is a former Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
