BIOGRAPHY
Marc J. Halsema is the Founder & Principal of Jaclise International LLC – a global strategic advisory firm customized to the goals and aspirations of highly successful entrepreneurs, families, family offices, merchant family groups and privately held businesses around the world. Serving as an experienced and trusted business strategist, Marc draws on his deep expertise in transnational tax and legal planning, business and operational strategy, and family office design and optimization services.
Marc’s global advisory practice builds upon more than 20 years living and working in Russia and the Middle East in addition to his career as a corporate lawyer in Chicago and New York. Prior to founding Jaclise International, Marc spent close to two decades with Ernst & Young in Moscow and New York in various business and private client roles as well as several years as managing director and general counsel of a boutique merchant bank headquartered in the Middle East. Marc has extensive experience advising global companies, privately held businesses, family offices, merchant family groups, endowments and foundations regarding board governance issues, domestic and international regulatory compliance, internal policies and procedures, trustee matters as well as family business and family office succession planning and strategy.
Marc has also devoted a significant aspect of his global career to advising on a variety of international tax and legal issues with a particular focus on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, foreign company restructurings and general corporate law matters. Marc has counseled businesses and client families with respect to complex foreign acquisitions and divestitures in the Americas, Europe, CIS, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Marc received his J.D. degree from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois and his B.A. degree in International Relations, Soviet Studies and Russian language from the University of Notre Dame. Passionate interests include art galleries and museums, books and literature, classical music, foreign languages, global travel, tinkering away on the next great international spy thriller and seemingly fleeting time spent with his son and daughter.
Marc has been an ardent admirer of President and Mrs. Ford since he was a high school volunteer in the 1976 presidential campaign.
