June 24, 2026
GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation and Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum welcomed former Vice President Mike Pence to the Ford Presidential Museum on Tuesday, June 23, for a special conversation celebrating the release of his new book, “What Conservatives Believe,” named one of The New York Times' most anticipated books of 2026.
The Museum's auditorium was filled as guests from West Michigan and beyond gathered for the event, many eager for the opportunity to hear the 48th Vice President of the United States discuss the principles and experiences that have shaped his public service and continue to influence the national conversation.
Moderated by Foundation trustee Douglas DeVos, the discussion explored the enduring principles of conservatism, the challenges facing the nation today, and the values that continue to shape American public life. Drawing on decades of public service as a Congressman, Governor of Indiana, and Vice President of the United States, Pence reflected on his career in public office and encouraged thoughtful dialogue about political philosophy, constitutional government, leadership, and civic engagement.
Following the conversation, attendees had the opportunity to buy signed copies of “What Conservatives Believe.”
The program is part of the Ford Presidential Foundation's and Museum’s ongoing commitment to presenting speakers representing a wide range of perspectives. Through these conversations, the Ford seeks to encourage civil discourse, historical understanding, and informed civic engagement in keeping with President Gerald R. Ford's enduring legacy of integrity, respect, and public service.
