On August 8, 2016, former Congressmen Martin Frost and Tom Davis presented their reflections and first-hand accounts of how America ended up in its current political climate. "The Partisan Divide: A Congress in Crisis" was a follow-up presentation that Frost and Davis participated in at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library on October 27, 2015. Martin, a Democrat originally from Dallas, Texas, and Davis, a Republican from Virginia, served in the United States House of Representatives together until 2004. Their book examines how we ended up with our current political climate; redistricting, money and media were three of the themes they addressed.
On the following day August 9, 2016, Frost and Davis were the keynote speakers for "Beyond My Way or the Highway", a teacher institute organized by Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum staff.
Twenty-eight educators came together in the Museum’s new DeVos Learning Center to gather valuable insight into the path that has led politics in the United States to the current point. While Davis' and Frost's comments echoed those of the previous evening, participants were able to dig deeper into the topic and themes with their questions and conversation.
