Addresses Before Joint Sessions of Congress

President Gerald R. Ford served 13 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. While Congressman, he established a reputation for personal integrity, hard work, and the ability to deal effectively with both Republicans and Democrats. This ability to work with both parties allowed President Ford to look past partisan politics and serve as President for all people. His addresses to Joint Sessions of Congress, to many members he had served with for decades, spoke about compromise and sought to answer the country’s problems through joint solutions, even those that may have been politically harmful, yet, the right course for the country.
