Ship Sponsor Susan Ford Bales was joined by Ford Family members, Foundation Trustees, fellow shipbuilders, U.S. Navy personnel and more than 20,000 attendees in christening the USS Gerald R. Ford CVN 78 on November 9, 2013 at Newport News Shipbuilding. The Ford is the US Navy’s first ship in the next generation of nuclear powered aircraft carriers, the Ford Class.
Foundation Trustee David Hume Kennerly, former White House Official Photographer for President Gerald R. Ford, traveled to Newport News, VA to attend the USS Gerald R. Ford Christening Ceremony and provided the Foundation numerous images from the christening and reception
